Introduction
Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (RCEECA) established in May 2013 under the framework of CAS’s Developing Countries Science & Education Cooperation Programme with the collaborations between Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Kazakhstan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Kyrgyzstan Academy of Sciences and Tajikistan Academy of Sciences.
Faced major demands on resources and eco-environment of Central Asia with the SCO and BRI, and collaborated with 11 institutes within CAS and over 20 foreign research institutions, the mutual benefit and collaboration were facilitated on 7 research domains including ecosystem, water resources, geology, climate change, environmental pollution, sustainable development and agricultural technology.
At present, RCEECA have held the Urumqi Headquarter, Almaty Branch, Bishkek Branch and Dushanbe Branch, and 3 joint labs and 3 information centers, and 15 field observation & research stations and 4 experimental & demonstrative sites in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
Moreover, 3 RCEECA branches have been registered as non-profit research organization in each country with the ratifications from local ministries of foreign affairs.
