Chen Xi Won the Title of Honorary Academician of the Kyrgyzstan Academy of Sciences

Recently, by receiving the resolution of the conference of academicians of the Kyrgyzstan Academy of Sciences, Chen Xi, director of the Central Asian Ecology and Environment Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has been awarded the honorary title of academician of the KyrgyzstanNational Academy of Sciences.

Researcher Chen Xi is mainly engaged in the research of remote sensing and geographical information system, hydrology, water resourcesand other aspects, and has made important scientific contributions in the international river simulation model in arid regions, three-dimensional models of remote sensing and GIS, construction of massive database, ecological environment management model, spatial hydrology and other aspects in particular.Since the establishment of the Central Asia Center, he has promoted the effective practical cooperation between China and Kyrgyzstan in basic and applied research, made great contributions in the development of hydrology and ecological research between China and Kyrgyzstan, and provided an important scientific basis for the ecological environmental management, regional sustainable development, water resources management and other aspects in Central Asia.The awarding of this honorhas also fully recognized his outstanding achievements in the field of ecology and environment in the arid regions of central Asia and his great contribution to the promotion of scientific and technological cooperation between China and Kyrgyzstan.

It is reported that a total of four foreign experts awarded the title of honorary academician of the Kyrgyzstan National Academy of Sciences this year, including KoshanovAmanzhol, professor of economics, the academician of the Kazakhstan Academy of Sciences;ZagorodnemNikolay, professor of orthopedic trauma, the corresponding academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences; DavletovBazbek, professor of biomedical sciences, the academician of the University of Sheffield, UK.
