Between October 23^rd and 26^th, 2019, Liu Wenjiang, Executive Deputy Director of the Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (RCEECA), visited Uzbekistan and held a consultation with relevant cooperative institutions on the implementation of the related work of the scientific and technological cooperation in the Aral Sea Region.

In Nukus, he had a discussion with President Nagmet of Karakalpakstan Branch, Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences on the construction plan and working details about the Moynaq Station in the Aral Sea Basin; visited the Centre for International Innovation of Aral Sea Basin directly under the President of Uzbekistan, and reached a consensus with Director Nurlibek and Deputy Director Ganiev on jointly boosting the scientific research and experimental demonstration in the Aral Sea Basin through multi-cooperation. During the period, he attended the high-level International Conference of “Aral Sea Region - Zone of Environmental Innovations and Technologies” co-organized by the Government of Uzbekistan and the United Nations. A total of more than 500 participants including Secretary General of the United Nations, Special Representative Guterres, Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Uzbekistan, ministers, political leaders, representatives from international organizations, scholars and experts attended the conference. During the conference, attendees exchanged views and opinions centering on 4 themes, i.e. creating favourable investment environment; green economy, environment-friendly, energy-saving and water-saving technology; water-saving technology and food safety; desertification, environmental improvement and ecotourism development.

In Tashkent, he discussed the key tasks and annual plan of next year’s bilateral cooperation with Director Komiljon Tojibaev, Institute of Plants, Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences.
