Zhang Yuanming extended a warm welcome to the trainees and introduced the development history, scientific research platform construction, cooperative achievements with countries in Central Asia and outlook for future cooperation of the XIEG. He pointed out that XIEG has always paid attention to the cooperation with countries in Central Asia on ecological environment, disaster prevention and reduction, water resources management and so on. It was hoped that the training class would further strengthen the cooperation and exchanges between different countries in disaster prevention and reduction, thus promoting the “going out” of China’s disaster prevention and reduction technologies and boosting the disaster prevention and reduction capability of countries along the “Belt and Road”.
Iskandar Abdullaev mentioned that in the past 40 years, the number of natural disasters in Central Asia region showed an increasing trend, which seriously affected the security of the people’s livelihood and restricted the economic and social development.
