China-Kazakhstan Big Data Analysis Center unveiled

On September 24th, the “China-Kazakhstan Big Data Analysis Center” jointly established by the Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (RCEECA), Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography and S.Seifullin Kazakh Agro Technical University (KazATU) in Kazakhstan was founded in Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan. Li Hefeng, Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Chen Xi, Vice President of Xinjiang Branch, Director of RCEECA and Professor of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, and Ismail, Vice President of KazATU attended the opening ceremony and cut the ribbon together for the founding of the center.

The “China-Kazakhstan Big Data Analysis Center” aims to jointly collect and collate historical data on relevant aspects of agriculture in Kazakhstan by taking advantage of China’s technological advantages and mature experiences in big data mining and application service. Combining the construction of agricultural ground monitoring network, based on data analysis and model development, a system of guidance, prediction and decision support at national, state and farmer levels, thus promoting and serving the development of Kazakhstan’s agriculture with better quality and efficiency, and supporting the agricultural technical cooperation and trade of agricultural products between the two countries.

In the subsequent symposium, Li Hefeng spoke highly of the cooperation between the RCEECA and KazATU, with the hope that it would become a model of cooperation of China and Kazakhstan, especially in agricultural field. He also indicated that the Chinese Academy of Sciences would gather relevant agricultural research strengths to fully support the bilateral cooperation. Li Shuang, representative of the State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Kazakhstan said in his remarks that the bilateral cooperation in the field of agricultural big data would be involved into an important field of agricultural cooperation between China and Kazakhstan, and it would be supported and promoted constantly in the future. Vice President Ismail, on behalf of President Kurishbayev and KazATU, expressed gratitude for the attendance of Deputy Secretary-General Li Hefeng and his entourage at the opening ceremony and the help and support given by China in the building process of the big data center. He also expressed the hope that through the joint efforts of both sides, the center would be built into a national agricultural big data center of Kazakhstan as soon as possible.

The delegation of Overseas-educated Scholars Association of Chinese Academy of Sciences and related personnel of the RCEECA attended the above activities.
