Between September 20^th and 21^th, Gao Hongjun, Deputy Secretary-General of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), visited the Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (RCEECA) Dushanbe Branch, and conducted an investigation on the science, education and construction work of overseas institution.

Accompanied by Chen Xi, Vice President of Xinjiang Branch, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Director of RCEECA and Professor of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Deputy Secretary-General Gao Hongjun visited the analysis and test laboratory, information center and drone center of Dushanbe branch. Director Chen Xi introduced the construction process, cooperative projects under research and periodic research achievements in detail via the panels. Subsequently, they made an on-the-spot investigation on Kondara Mountains Ecosystem Field Monitoring and Research Station.

Deputy Secretary-General Gao Hongjun gave high affirmation to the pragmatic cooperation between RCEECA and Tajikistan Academy of Sciences (TAS), which gave full play to the role of bridge between the scientific and technological cooperation of CAS and TAS. He put forward to further deepen cooperation with Tajikistan, foster and expand talent education to the undergraduate level, and cultivate a group of high-level young scientists for Tajikistan.

During the working-level talks with President Rahimi of Tajikistan Academy of Sciences, Rahimi showed great support for the suggestions on talent cultivation raised by Deputy Secretary-General Gao Hongjun. He pointed out that Tajikistan has a strong demand for talent training, TAS has required all the postgraduates to learn both Chinese and English, and specifically hired Chinese teachers from Confucius Institute for them. TAS is grateful to RCEECA for its great contribution to the scientific and technological progress of Tajikistan, and hopes that the field of cooperation can be expanded and more fruitful results will be achieved in the future.

Deputy Secretary-General Gao Hongjun conducted the above investigation after attending the 32th Committee Meeting of International Association of Academy of Sciences (IAAS) held in the capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe on behalf the CAS. Relative personnel from the Bureau of International Cooperation and RCEECA participated in related activities.
