A Group of People Led by Mr. Ton Oishi, Professor of the Faculty of Agriculture of Japan’s Shizuoka University, Visited the RCEECA

A group of 5 people led by Mr. Ton Oishi, Professor of the Faculty of Agriculture of Japan’s Shizuoka University and President of the Association for China-Japanese Exchanges of Shizuoka County, visited the Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (RCEECA).

Chen Xi, Vice President of the Xinjiang Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Director of RCEECA, welcomed the group led by Mr. Oishi and stressed that Mr. Oishi was an old friend of Xinjiang people. Shizuoka University and Mr. Oishi has been collaborating with Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences in the ecological research of arid areas and the protection and utilization of wild fruit forests for decades. After his retirement, Mr. Oishi is still devoted to promoting bilateral cooperation in this field and actively engages in folk exchanges between both countries. He deeply admired Mr. Oishi for leading the group to visit Xinjiang at the age of 83. After that, Liu Wenjiang, Deputy Managing Director of RCEECA, introduced the history, development goals, organizational structure, scientific activities and talents training of RCEECA in a systematic way. 

At the request of Mr. Oishi, Director Chen Xi gave a detailed introduction of the construction plan and goal of Yili Botanical Garden and recently launched work; both sides discussed and exchanged views on the conservation, research power and platform integration of Yili’s wild fruits resources and the scientific and technological cooperation in Central Asia’s ecological environment.

Professor Yan Guorong of Tianjing Agricultural University and Director Xuekereti of the General Affairs Office of Xinjiang Branch, Chinese Academy of Sciences, attended the above activities.
