All Sides Should Jointly Work Together to Promote Scientific and Technological Cooperation on Aral Sea

Between August 5th and 8th, Professor Liu Wenjiang, Deputy Managing Director of Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (RCEECA) visited Uzbekistan and consulted and put into practice the scientific and technological cooperation along Aral Sea.

Accompanied by Academician Nagmet, President of Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences Karakalpak Branch, Professor Liu Wenjiang went to Muynak Station to investigate how to strengthen support for field stations and fully guarantee the smooth implementation of pan third pole environment project and check the growth of introduced halophytic vegetation and the operation of field monitoring equipment at site. During his stay in Nukus, he also visited the innovative center for Aral Sea basin at the presidential office of Uzbekistan and discussed issues about strengthening multi-lateral cooperation and promoting the construction of international research center of Aral Sea with Director Nurlybek and Deputy Director Muratbay; he also introduced the ideas and measures on strengthening the scientific and technological cooperation along Aral Sea to Jusipbek, the First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Environment and Development of Karakalpak. 

In the capital Tashkent, he exchanged views with relevant scientific staff, such as Academician Komiljon, of Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences and Director of Botany Institute concerning bilateral scientific and technological cooperation progress and next work plans. He also went to visit the research staff currently involved in the China-Uzbekistan specimen museum digitalization cooperation project. 

Besides, he was invited to attend the international Meeting “Transform Agricultural and Environmental Challenges into Investment and Innovation Opportunities along Aral Sea” held by the Ministry of Innovative Development of Uzbekistan and ICBA in Tashkent. Over 100 people, including the Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, Deputy Minister of Innovative Development and relevant representatives from international organizations and countries.
