Deputy Director Ganiyev of Aral Sea International Innovation Center Directly Affiliated to the President of Uzbekistan Visited RCEECA

On June 21st, Deputy Director Ganiyev of Aral Sea International Innovation Center Directly Affiliated to the President of Uzbekistan and Professor Khabibullo Shomurodov of Botany Institute of Uzbekistan visited RCEECA and conducted academic exchanges.

Liu Wenjiang, Deputy Managing Director of RCEECA and Professor of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, systematically introduced the research center’s research work and scientific research progress in Central Asia region in recent years from the perspectives of basic information, platform building, scientific research achievement, talents training, international cooperation projects and domestic and international influence. He mainly introduced the progress made in halophyte planting demonstration, salt dust storm-sandstorm monitoring in Aral Sea and Aral Sea ecological field stations. He wishes to put forward the solution for Aral Sea ecological system recovery and water resources management with Uzbekistan by taking advantage of China’s advanced ecological system recovery principle and technology, offer scientific and sustainable roadmap for SCO and “Belt and Road” Initiative Foundation and make certain contribution for the plan of saving Aral Sea.

Deputy Director Ganiyev highly recognized the information platform building of RCEECA and the scientific and technological results achieved and spoke highly of the work in demonstration zone, Aral Sea field station building and salt dust storm-sandstorm monitoring carried out by RCEECA in Uzbekistan. He wishes that both sides can combine their respective advantages to conduct research in Aral Sea area and contribute to the ecosystem treatment and improvement of Aral Sea.

After the meeting, Ganiyev visited the RCEECA Information Center and the Specimen Museum of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography.
