Professor Bayarkhuu of Khovd University in Mongolia visits RCEECA
A group of 3 people led by Professor Bayarkhuu of Khovd University in Mongolia visited Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography at the invitation of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (RCEECA) and conducted academic exchanges at RCEECA between April 9th and 13th.
At first, Associate Professor Li Yaoming, Director of Cooperation and Coordination Research Office of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography and Chinese Director of RCEECA Bishkek Branch welcomed those from Khovd University and introduced RCEECA’s research work and progress in Central Asia in a systematic way from the perspectives of its basic information, platform building, scientific achievements, talents training, international cooperative projects and domestic and international influence. Professor Bayarkhuu delivered an academic report on “Research and Analysis of Soil Heavy Metals along Buyant River in Western Mongolia”, Associate Professor Amarjargal on “Composition and Application of Sagebrush’s Chemical Elements” while Associate Professor Tegshjargal on “Distribution of Plants on Desert and Grassland of Mongolia”. The participants exchanged and discussed about soil heavy metal pollution along Buyant River and medical application of sagebrush in a broad way.
Professor Bayarkhuu thanked Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography and RCEECA for their efforts in promoting China-Mongolia academic exchanges and expressed the wish to establish long-lasting relations to push forward the two countries’ cooperation in science and education and to jointly strengthen in-depth cooperation in the research of regional climate, desert grassland and plants.
During the visit, the group led by Professor Bayarkhuu visited RCEECA, Central Laboratory, Xinjiang Specimen Museum and Xinjiang Fukang National Field Station for Desert Ecological Observation and Research.
