Between March 12th and 15th, 2019, Chen Xi, Vice President of Xinjiang Branch, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Director of Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (RCEECA) and Professor of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, led the team to visit Kazakhstan to make arrangements for the annual work of Almaty Branch.

After listening to the work report by Director Saparov of Almaty Branch, Chen Xi briefly introduced the annual plan and task of Silk Road Special Project and solved the problems about the Branch’s staff and data management through coordination. During the work report, he communicated with Academician Murat Zhurinov, President of Kazakhstan Academy of Sciences and the staff of Chinese Consulate General in Almaty about the Branch’s future work and development.

In Astana, the group of people led by Chen Xi visited Academician Maksat, Vice President and Secretary General of Kazakhstan Academy of Sciences, and Institute of Information Technology of Department of Education and Science of Kazakhstan, introduced RCEECA’s work and discussed on future bilateral cooperation. At Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University, Chen Xi listened to Vice President Tokbergenov’s work report on the university, bilateral cooperation and work progress on precision agriculture and agricultural big data, visited relevant departments and labs, and exchanged views with President Kurishbayev on the construction of agricultural big data construction center, talents training and cooperative projects.

Liu Wenjiang, Executive Deputy Director of RCEECA, Li Yaoming, Director of Bishkek Branch and Duman Yimamaidi, Deputy Director of Almaty Branch, all attended the above activities.

On March 11th, Liu Wenjiang, Executive Deputy Director of RCEECA and Li Yaoming, Director of Bishkek Branch visited Bishkek Branch, arranged and implemented several recent key work of Bishkek Branch.
