发布时间2019-03-12

Between February 20th and 24th, Professor Hagit Messer of Tel Aviv University (TAU) in Israel and Professor Han Congcheng of Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences visited Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (RCEECA) and conducted academic exchanges.

Hagit Messer delivered a report titled “Challenges and Opportunities in using Commercial Microwave Links for Weather Monitoring”. Han Congcheng delivered a report titled “Application of Telecommunication in Environment Monitoring”. Professor Lei Jiaqiang, Professor Li Lanhai, Professor Zhou Hongfei and Professor Liu Wenjiang of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography as well as master and doctorate students of relevant majors also attended the report meeting.

In the report, Hagit Messer introduced the application of commercial microwave links (CML) in the monitoring and research of rainfall, snowfall and air humidity, analyzed the application of this method in flood forecast and weather monitoring and discussed the future prospect of this method. Han Congcheng introduced the current application of telecommunication technology in environment monitoring. Field experiments have proved that high-frequency microwave can better monitor the rainfall. And participants conducted broad exchanges and discussions about the research and application of CML in weather monitoring in different climate regions.

During the visit, Hagit Messer visited RCEECA. Liu Wenjiang, Executive Deputy Director of RCEECA, introduced the center’s research work and scientific research progress in Central Asia’s ecological environment monitoring and water resources management in recent years from the perspectives of basic information, platform construction, scientific research achievements and domestic and international influence. Hagit Messer spoke highly of RCEECA’s achievements in Central Asia.

During the visit, Hagit Messer thanked Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography’s efforts in promoting international academic exchanges and hoped that long-lasting cooperative relations can be established to promote cooperation between China and Israel in scientific education and research cooperation in regional climate and disasters can be further strengthened.

Professor Hagit Messer mainly focuses on the research of statistical signal processing, time delay estimate, sensor array processing and communication and environment monitoring. He has been acting as a lifetime member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) since 2001 and currently serves as the professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering of TAU. And he used to take the position of the Vice President of Israel’s Commission of Higher Education (CHE). Professor Hagit Messer has published over 100 papers, including those published in Nature, Science and other journals.
