RCEECA attends the annual meeting of the National Ecological Science Data Center

On October 28th, at the invitation of the National Ecological (System) Science Data Center (hereinafter referred to as the Data Center), Chen Xi, Vice President of Xinjiang Branch, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Director of the Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (hereinafter referred to as the RCEECA), attended the annual meeting of the National Ecological (System) Science Data Center Expert Committee held at the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research. And Chen Yiyu, an academician at the CAS and Director of the Data Center Expert Committee, Yu Guirui, an academician at the CAS and Deputy Director of the Data center Expert Committee, Shao Ming’an, an academician at the CAS, Fu Xiaofeng, Deputy Director General of the Department of Basic Research of the Ministry of Science and Technology, as well as other leaders and experts from relevant departments attended the meeting.

At the meeting, the attendees heard the reports on the annual work progress and the phased results of key research work of the Data Center, visited the computer room of the Data Center and watched the application presentation of data mining and analysis, and also discussed and made suggestions on the daily management operation, key tasks and development plan of the Data Center; in addition, they deliberated the programme that the RCEECA serves as a supporting institution for the Central Asia Branch of the Data Center, and also exchanged details on the implementation plan and technical route of “the integrated monitoring and application of typical terrestrial ecosystems in China and the Belt and Road regions of Central Asia”, a key project of “inter-governmental cooperation on scientific and technological innovation” organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology.  

The project of “the integrated monitoring and application of typical terrestrial ecosystems in China and the Belt and Road regions of Central Asia” has been jointly applied by the Data Center and the RCEECA and approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology. The project aims to improve the technical specifications of ecological positioning monitoring with supporting ecosystem service assessment as its goal, enhance the monitoring capability of regional ecological network, make up for the deficiency of the ground monitoring data of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), and promote the sharing of ecological monitoring data between China and the Belt and Road regions of Central Asia so as to provide scientific and technological support for the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
