Beidou Dam Deformation Monitoring System Was Selected as A Successful Case for Beidou’s International Application

发布时间2021-10-16

During the 8th China-Central Asia Cooperation Forum, the 2nd China-Central Asia Beidou Cooperation Forum organized by China Satellite Navigation Office (CSNO) was held on October 15th, 2021 in Lanzhou, Gansu Province. Relevant agencies from 5 central Asian countries, 3 Transcaucasia countries and countries along the Belt and Road, international organizations such as Shanghai Cooperation Organization and Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization and representatives of relevant domestic industries and research institutions attended this forum online or offline.

At the forum, CSNO released China-Central Asia Beidou Cooperation Forum Initiative. Director Ran Chengqi highly recognized and appraised Lake Sarez Dam Beidou Deformation Monitoring System in his opening speech. Exchanges were conducted on the status quo of Beidou system, cooperation progress with Central Asia, cases of successful application and future development.

Lake Sarez Dam Beidou Deformation Monitoring System, jointly developed by National Time Service Center (NTSC), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (RCEECA) was the core project of CAS overseas center. As a successful case of application of Beidou international cooperation, relevant personnel were invited to give a report during special subject session. Research Tu Rui from NTSC, representing the team, gave a introduction on technological equipment breakthroughs during monitoring system development, domestic simulation test, international joint commissioning, integration and connection on site and real-time monitoring and operation from the aspects of Beidou technological advantages, deformation monitoring need, Lake Sarez dam deformation monitoring based on Beidou and ubiquitous deformation monitoring service platform of Beidou. The monitoring system, which uses Beidou real-time millimeter-scale thousand-mile eye technology to monitor millimeter-scale displacement and transmit real-time data with communication satellite, allows for a real-time continuous deformation monitoring of Lake Sarez dam and provides scientific references for dam safety.

Beidou Satellite Navigation System, constructed and operated by China, is a global satellite navigation system and an important space and time infrastructure to provide fill-time, full-weather and high-precision locating, navigating and time services to global users. One year since its construction, the system operated stable while slightly improved and continuously meet the needs of global users. It has become a vivid example of China actively pushing for the construction of community of shared future for mankind with concrete actions. The 1st China-Central Asia Beidou Cooperation Forum was successfully held on October 18th, 2019 in Nanning, Guangxi Province.

Deputy Managing Director of RCEECA, Liu Wenjiang, was invited to attend this forum.
