On June 2, a delegation of five people including Wu Yan, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee and Secretary of Discipline Inspection Commission of Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics of CAS (Chinese Academy of Sciences), and Hu Bingliang, Deputy Director of the Institute, visited Xinjiang Branch of CAS to conduct an exchange and investigation on scientific and educational cooperation in Central Asia. The symposium was chaired by Chen Xi, Secretary of Branch Leading Party Group of Xinjiang Branch of CAS and Director of Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (RCEECA), and Ning Bolun, Deputy Director of European Office of Bureau of International Cooperation CAS, attended the symposium for guidance.

At the symposium held in Xinjiang Branch, Liu Wenjiang, Deputy Managing Director of RCEECA, made a detailed introduction to the orientation and objectives, operation and management, platform construction, scientific research cooperation, personnel training, external publicity, recent key work and other aspects and exchanged personal ideas and work suggestions on the future development, technology going global and its implementation and promotion, etc of RCEECA. At the meeting, Xinjiang Branch of CAS and Central Asian Center of Drug Discovery and Development of CAS also introduced relevant information respectively. In addition, the two sides also discussed cooperation on specific technologies.

During the visit to Big Data Center of RCEECA, they learned about the work of RCEECA in data collection, storage management, analysis and application, etc and watched the example demonstration of data utilization.

After the briefing and site visit, the delegation of Wu Yan fully recognized and spoke highly of the development achievements made by RCEECA since it started, and indicated that in the future they would like to strengthen the exchanges and interactions with RCEECA, make full use of the existing platform and partner network of RCEECA, and carry out technical cooperation, personnel training and achievement incubation in Central Asia so as to serve the scientific and technological cooperation and economic development in the “Belt and Road” region.

After the meeting, they went to Xinjiang Astronomical Observatory Nanshan Observation Station of CAS and Silk Road Innovation and Development Research Institute for site visit and investigation.
