In the morning of April 23, the CAS Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (hereinafter referred to as the Center) organized the relevant experts to conduct acceptance on its foreign cooperation project in the CAS Nanjing Institute of Geography and Limnology. Chen Xi (the secretary of the CPC Leading Group of Xinjiang Branch of Chinese Academy of Sciences and the director of the Center), Sun Fubao (the deputy director of the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography) and Ning Bolun (the deputy director of CAS European Division of International Cooperation Bureau) attended the meeting, and the meeting was chaired by Liu Wenjiang (the executive deputy director of the Center).

The acceptance experts listened to the report of the project leader, and reviewed the relevant materials, based on which, they further asked several questions. Finally, they unanimously believed that the project was organized and managed properly, the funds were used reasonably, the acceptance materials were complete, and the tasks and assessment indicators specified in the project plan were successfully achieved, so they agreed that the project acceptance was passed. In addition, the acceptance expert team also fully affirmed and highly appraised the forward-looking layout and achievements of the acceptance project, and they conducted exchange and discussion on the relevant work of the project.

The purpose for the Center to conduct the foreign cooperation projects is to promote the scientific & technological exchange and cooperation between the members and the scientific research institutes of the Center, to serve the development planning, research layout and key tasks of the Center, to improve the local scientific research capacity and level, and to accelerate the cultivation of talents. This acceptance project involved disaster prevention and mitigation, lake and environment, unmanned aerial vehicle technology, big data and cloud computing, water resources management and geographic information database.

Before the meeting, Zhang Ganlin (the director of Nanjing Institute of Geography and Limnology which is a member of the Center) thanked the attendees’ trust and support on behalf of the undertaker. Ning Bolun (the deputy director of the CAS European Division of the International Cooperation Bureau) briefly introduced the construction and the optimization management proposal of CAS overseas scientific and educational cooperation bases. Sun Fubao (the deputy director of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography), on behalf of supporting institutes of the Center, affirmed the important role of the Center among the institutes and the CAS science and technology cooperation in Central Asia. Chen Xi (the director of the Center) thanked the acceptance experts for their attendance and guidance, and focused on the introduction of Center's existing work and recent development plan. He hoped that more CAS-affiliated institutions and domestic scientific research institutes could join the Center in the future to facilitate the construction of "Belt and Road".

After the meeting, the attendees went to CAS Taihu Lake Ecosystem Field Observation and Research Station of Nanjing Institute of Geography and Limnology for academic discussion and exchange, and they also conducted field visit for Lihu Lake Ecological Restoration Demonstration Area.

The leader of the acceptance project, the representative of the scientific research management department of Xinjiang Biogeology Institute and the relevant personnel of the Center attended the meeting.
