As an old Chinese saying goes, ‘make the plans for the year in spring’, in order to plan and well do all kinds of work of the Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (hereinafter referred to as the ‘Center’) in 2021, the Center held a work discussion and arrangement meeting on Feb. 4. Chen Xi, Director of the Center, presided over this meeting and the core management staff and people in charge of various kinds of professional work and related technicians of the Center attended the meeting.

First of all, Liu Wenjiang, executive deputy director of the Center, introduced the background and purpose of the discussion meeting on the construction of the overseas comprehensive scientific research stations, the communications and reports and their main contents as well as the expert discussions and work suggestions at the meeting. Then he reported the main spirit of the meeting summary speech by Vice-president Zhang Yaping and shared his own opinions on the development and planning, the current management situation and the existing problems of the related work of the Center. Then, directors of all branch centers and heads of the laboratories, information centers and field stations exchanged ideas on the problems and difficulties, solution schemes and work plans around their own professional and managerial work.

Director Chen Xi highly praised the problem analyses and work planning of the participants of the meeting. Combining with communicating and interpreting the relevant contents of the working meeting, he emphasized that all personnel should proceed from the classification and positioning of the Center and focus on their main duty and work. In the aspect of the operation and management of the field station, the key work is the standardization of daily observation, the quality controlling and sharing of data, and the serving of major project research and major achievement output. In the aspect of internal management of the Center, monthly work report and periodical meeting should be implemented, and the mechanism of duty grading and allocation to special person and linkage with performance should be promoted. Meanwhile, he suggested to continue to strengthen the work connection with CERN and the communication and cooperation with ANSO, and continuously improve work standards and promote the influence of the Center. In addition, he suggested that the standard management and normal operation of the research platform of the Center should be guaranteed with every effort, and the major projects, such as the priority research programs, should be well served. Finally, he made arrangement of the recent work, assignment of task and setting of time schedules.
