发布时间2022-07-19

On July 6th, a group of 4 people led by Zhang Yaonan, Director of National Cryosphere Desert Data Center, visited the Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (RCEECA) and inspected on data collection management and shared application.

At the symposium, Chen Xi, Director of RCEECA, introduced the management of data from the collection and storage of field monitoring data, establishment of ecological environment and resource data platform, as well domestic and foreign data sharing and openness. Both sides conducted in-depth exchanges on effective management, integration, openness and sharing and reached agreement on cooperation in data collection, sharing, exploring and application as well as the establishment of data center. All these efforts are aimed at strengthening ecological and scientific data management, sharing, cooperation and application, as well as offering technological support to ecological research, development of national ecological civilization, and the “Belt and Road” initiative.

On July 5th, Director Zhang Yaonan gave a report named “Thinking and Application of Data Engineering” at RCEECA and conducted academic exchanges with attendees. Director Zhang Yaonan discussed the importance of establishing data engineering by introducing engineering thinking and analyzed the features of data engineering, which is based on data. He also elaborated on the practical demand of establishing data engineering through completed and improved data preparation system and data engineering application cases.

National Cryosphere Desert Data Center, a national platform for scientific resources sharing and services, was jointly established by Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment and Qinghai Institute of Salt Lakes with the support of Northwest Institute of Eco-Environment and Resources. It has a scientific and supporting system consisted of 7 research labs and 3 research systems while highlighting glacier, frozen soil, dessert, atmosphere, water, land, ecology, environment, resources and projects in cold and arid areas as well as the feature of sustainable development. Scientific data collected and model resources have distinct character, prominent regional features and significant location advantages. The center also has rich experience in scientific data management, openness, sharing and application support in relevant fields.

RCEECA has become the “scientific data center for Xinjiang and Central Asia” of National Cryosphere Desert Data Center in 2021 with over 30GB online data and over 100,000 views.
