On May 31, Dr. Nukshev (Executive Deputy Director of Science and Education Center of Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan) visited Almaty Branch Center of the Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (hereinafter referred to as Almaty Branch Center), accompanied by Remajanova (Director of Institute of Soil and Agricultural Chemistry of Kazakhstan).

Mr. Sapalov (Kazakh Director of Almaty Branch Center) and Mr. Duman (Chinese Executive Director) systematically introduced the work of the Branch Center from the aspects of positioning objectives, operation management, platform construction, scientific research projects, personnel training and recent key tasks, and then Dr. Nukshev visited the Joint Laboratory and Information Sub-center of the Branch Center.

The experimental facilities and supporting conditions of Branch Center were highly praised by Dr. Nukshev, and he pointed out that Almaty Branch Center is the largest and the most widely bilateral scientific and technological cooperation platform among Chinese scientific research institutes in Kazakhstan. Moreover, he stressed that China is a great power under a rapid development in the world, and is also a good neighbor of Kazakhstan, so the cooperation between the two countries in the field of ecological research was particularly important. Furthermore, he encouraged the young researchers from the Branch Center and the Soil Institute to make full use of this platform to actively apply for scientific research projects of the Kazakh government and to solve the current issues of ecological environment and agricultural science in Kazakhstan, making greater contributions to the international scientific and technological cooperation for Kazakhstan.

The Science and Education Center of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan is the competent authority for the national agriculture-related research institutes of Kazakhstan, governing the National Agricultural University of Kazakhstan, the Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University, the West Kazakhstan Agrotechnical University and 23 agriculture-related research institutes.

The Almaty Branch Center was co-built with the Institute of Soil and Agricultural Chemistry of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, and was put into use in April 2014. At present, it has an office space of 2,000 square meters, a joint laboratory, an information sub-center, and six ecological system field scientific observation and research stations distributed throughout the Kazakhstan.
