Recently, the Almaty Branch Center (hereinafter referred to as Almaty Branch Center) of the CAS Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (hereinafter referred to as RCEECA) was accredited as a national scientific research institution in Kazakhstan and awarded a certificate (No. 000366).

The certificate issued by the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan expressly accepts Almaty Branch Center as a national science and technology research institute in Kazakhstan in accordance with Article 23 of the Science Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and allows Almaty Branch Center to conduct science and technology research and compete for the scientific research projects funded by Kazakhstan national budget. The certificate is valid until February 28, 2027, and can be renewed by evaluation upon expiry.

Almaty Branch Center was established in 2014, and under the support of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, it is located in the Soil and Agricultural Chemical Institution, Kazakhstan Academy of Agricultural Sciences. It covers an area of 2,000m2, and now it has six ecosystem field observation stations, two agricultural and ecological technology test demonstration zones, one joint laboratory of soil and ecology, and one information sub-center.

Since its establishment, Almaty Branch Center has constantly promoted the certification and accreditation in relevant institutions and platforms while enhancing standardized management and normal operation. For example, the joint laboratory has successively passed the national certification of the Committee for Technical Regulation and Measurement under the Ministry of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan and the registration of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), so Almaty Branch Center has become an institution qualified to conduct analytical tests and provide reliable data to society in Kazakhstan as well as a network member of the FAO global soil analysis laboratories.

The certification of a national scientific research institution in Kazakhstan highlights a solid step towards building RCEECA into an important international scientific research institution in the field of ecology and environment.
