On April 7, 2022, the first quarter work reporting and annual work advance meeting of CAS Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (hereinafter referred to as RCEECA) was held in video manner. All employees from Urumqi Headquarter Center, Almaty Branch Center, Bishkek Branch Center and Dushanbe Branch Center attended the meeting, and Liu Wenjiang, the Executive Deputy Director of RCEECA, presided over the meeting.

At the meeting, Almaty Branch Center, Bishkek Branch Center and Dushanbe Branch Center reported their work progress in the first quarter and the subsequent work plan, focusing on the platform operation, scientific research projects, academic exchanges and findings/outcomes. Director Chen Xi fully affirmed that these three branch centers could advance the work in an orderly manner according to the annual work deployment, and he also made the key deployment of the subsequent tasks.

Chen Xi emphasized that the operation and data collection of field stations should be taken as the primary task. It was necessary to properly manage and operate field stations to ensure the normal operation of observation equipment, and the cooperation with important international ecosystem observation networks should be actively enhanced to build an important ecological monitoring network in arid and semi-arid regions. Moreover, it was important to form evaluation reports and advisory suggestions based on the phased research findings of scientific research projects, so as to provide scientific basis for Central Asian governments to make decisions on ecological protection, resource utilization and disaster early warning, continuously expanding the influence of the RCEECA. Furthermore, it also was necessary to ensure the operation and management of the laboratories to give full play to their advantages of instruments and analytical capabilities, further serving the local science & technology and people's livelihood. Meanwhile, attention should be paid to the outputs of scientific research findings, especially the publication of papers in international academic journals, promoting the construction of an important international research institution. In addition, the external publicity should be taken as a regular task, and the key work and scientific progress of RCEECA should be actively reported and publicized through television, newspapers and the Internet to enhance its recognition.
