The Annual Meeting of the National Ecosystem Science Data Center was successfully held

On February 28, 2022, the 2021 Annual Work Summary Meeting of the National Ecosystem Science Data Center was held in CAS Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research. More than 80 persons from the Department of Basic Research of the Ministry of Science and Technology of PRC, the National Science & Technology Infrastructure Platform Center, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the CAS Internet Security and Informatization Leading Group Office, the CAS Bureau of Science & Technology for Development and the National Ecosystem Science Data Center, including Chen Yiyu (Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences), Zhou Chenghu, Yu Guirui and other experts, attended the meeting, and this meeting was held in the form of online + offline. Chen Xi (Director of the CAS Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (hereinafter referred to as the Central Asia Center)) and Liu Wenjiang (Executive Deputy Director) attended the meeting.

The 2021 annual report of the National Ecosystem Science Data Center, the research progress of terrestrial ecosystem carbon cycle simulation, and the research framework of approved national key R&D program Key Technologies and Applications of Ecosystem Big Data Intelligent Management and Mining were briefed on the meeting. Moreover, the identification and unveiling ceremony of CAS Ecosystem Science Data Center and the release & donation ceremony for books of field stations data sets were held, and the 2021 annual Top Ten Data Sets, the Data Sharing Excellent Scientific Research Team, the Information Construction Excellent Stations and the Information Opening and Sharing Excellent Stations list were also announced.

The experts at the meeting highly praised the outstanding progress made by the National Ecosystem Scientific Data Center in 2021, and they made suggestions and advice on the current problems and future development. Director Chen Xi briefly introduced the layout and current situation of the Central Asian Ecosystem Monitoring Research Network, and exchanged ideas and suggestions on the concerns and demands of ecosystem management & protection as well as the standardized management & shared use of field station observation data of countries in Central Asian.

After signing a strategic cooperation agreement with the National Ecosystem Science Data Center on October 11, 2021, Central Asia Center became the Central Asia Sub-Center of the National Ecosystem Science Data Center, and it is responsible for and coordinating data collection and sharing, in-depth mining and application, and scientific research cooperation and exchange in Central Asia, which will further serve the scientific research in ecology & related fields and will support the national Belt and Road Initiative.
