Between January 18 and 20, the CAS Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia held an online Training Course on Equipment Maintenance Technology of Central Asia Ecosystem Observation Stations, and nearly 20 technicians responsible for the maintenance of field station equipment from five countries (including Kazakhstan) participated in this training.

The technical experts from the Xinjiang University and the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of CAS were invited for this training course, and from the aspects of theory and practice, the technical experts narrated to the trainees about the working principle, circuit connection, daily maintenance, log keeping, data download, and other working processes of the observation equipment that are operating in Central Asia field stations. Moreover, they also narrated the practical installation of a new power supply system, and the remote connection was also applied to simulate the process of common equipment troubleshooting, observation data download, and daily maintenance. As a result, the interaction and exchange were lively, and the technical questions raised by the trainees were patiently answered and guided by the training experts.

After this training, the ecological environment observation skills of the trainees from Central Asia were further improved, and their ability to independently analyze and solve problems was also enhanced, which laid a solid foundation for the long-term and sustainable monitoring of the ecological environment in Central Asia in the future.
