On November 3rd, 2022, great progress was made in ANSO joint research project called “Promotion and Application of Low-cost and Smart Water Purification Technology in Central Asia” conducted by the research group led by Researcher Li Yaoming of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The Russian version of Geographical Distribution of the Water Resources and Water Quality Assessment of Kyrgyz Republic written by the research group has been published by ILIM (Science) Publishing House of Kyrgyz Republic. And it was publicly released to the society at the Round Table Discussion on “the Belt and Road” held on the same day.

On the same day, the Round Table Discussion on “the Belt and Road” , launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan and jointly organized by Diplomatic Academy of the Kyrgyz Republic, Konrad Adenauer Foundation and Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (RCEECA) (Bishkek) , was held together with the publication of the book to memorize the 20th anniversary of the signing of the treaty on good neighborliness, friendship and cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and China. M. TemirbayevaDeputy Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense, Security and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic, M. Dzhumatayev—President of the Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyz Republic and K. Jumaliyeva—Director of the Bureau for the Management of Drinking Water Supply and Drainage, all attend the round table discussion. On behalf of Du Dewen, the Chinese ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Li Baojie, Minister-Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Kyrgyzstan gave a detailed introduction of major achievements in infrastructure, trade, cultural, scientific and educational exchanges between 2 countries since the signing of the Treaty of Good Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the People's Republic of China 20 years ago as well as future development expectations.

At the publication conference, Professor S. Alamanov President of the Geography Society of the Kyrgyz Republic, gave a introduction of Geographical Distribution of the Water Resources and Water Quality Assessment of Kyrgyz Republic (physical characteristics, chemical constituents and purposes) on behalf of the team of ANSO joint research project called “Promotion and Application of Low-cost and Smart Water Purification Technology in Central Asia”. This is the first original work to give a comprehensive introduction of the water resources and drinking water condition of Kyrgyzstan since its independence in 1991. This work has 5 chapters. And onsite investigation for drinking water conditions of over 50 major rivers and 20 underground wells was conducted in terms of the distribution of water resources and supply of drinking water. Tests and analysis were carried out in the lab, which include pH value, hardness, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, 8 ions, heavy metal, colibacillus and nuclear pollution etc. Such work has significant academic application value as it gives a comprehensive analysis of the drinking water sources of Kyrgyzstan at different time periods and in different seasons with large amount of detailed first-hand data. It also offered a detailed introduction of the construction and operation of more than 10 water purification stations, across 7 states of Kyrgyzstan, which were established with the support of ANSO project, local demand and future plan of the country.  Thus, it offered a solution for residents who live in rural areas which has no conditions to build centralized water supply pipelines.

After the conference, TV station of Kyrgyz Republic and Alatao 24 Hours interviewed Professor S. Alamanov to have a better understanding of the content of this work and how it was written. The project team sent samples to delegates at the conference, institutions, colleges and universities and libraries. It is reported that batch printing has finished for this work and it will officially meet readers in the second half of November.
