International Workshop on Glacier Protection and Reasonable Application of Water Resources in Central Asia Was Held Successfully
On November 30, International Workshop on Glacier Protection and Reasonable Application of Water Resources in Central Asia, which was sponsored by the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan and Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (RCEECA) and organized by RCEECA Dushanbe branch, was held in Dushanbe of Tajikistan in both physical and virtual ways. The opening ceremony was hosted by Professor Saidov, Vice President of the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan and Director of RCEECA Dushanbe branch.
Over 50 experts and scholars from China, Tajikistan and Russia attended the conference. More than 20 scholars also shared their latest work progress and results on topics such as the impact of climate change on Pamirs-Tianshan Mountain, water tower of Central Asia and its protection, water resources of Central Asia and sustainable application and technological methods for glacier monitoring and research. They also conducted in-depth discussion and exchanges.
Chinese representatives who attended the conference are mainly from Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Northwest Institute of Eco-Environment and Resources CAS, Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research CAS, Northwest University and Yunnan University.
