On January 31, 2023, a group of 5 people led by Hong Zenglin—Secretary of Communist Party Committee of Shaanxi Institute of Geological Survey visited Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (RCEECA) and inspected on further international scientific and technological cooperation in satellite remote sensing.

At the symposium, Director of RCEECA Chen Xi stressed that RCEECA has always been devoted to promote accelerated international application and demonstration of China’s spatial Information technology. And this technology has been applied in a series of projects that can bring benefits to people’s livelihood, such as precision agriculture, disaster monitoring and warning, and ecological environment protection based on drone, BeiDou and satellite remote sensing in central Asia. It also has great significance to the economic and social development of countries along the “Belt and Road”.

Deputy Managing Director of RCEECA Liu Wenjiang gave a detailed introduction of RCEECA from platform building, operation and management, scientific research projects, research results and international influence. Both sides had also conducted exchanges on the application of satellite remote sensing in central Asia at a symposium.

Hong Zenglin had fully recognized the advantages of RCEECA in geo, platform and technology and praised the fruitful results achieved by RCEECA in fields such as resources development and ecological environment protection based on application of satellite remote sensing technology and big data construction. He also stressed that this inspection is aimed to build a stable international cooperation relationship in scientific and technological innovation and jointly build a platform for scientific research cooperation, technological transfer and resources sharing;  hold a range of international academic exchanges and build a platform for talents communication; and promote scientific research cooperation and conduct cooperation in fields such as scientific and technological innovation to contribute  new momentum for the development of central Asia.

Shaanxi Institute of Geological Survey, a department-level public institution directly affiliated with the provincial government of Shaanxi, is responsible for organizing and conducting public and fundamental geological survey and prospect assessment of mineral resources.
