The monograph Behavioral Biology and Conservation of the Gazella Subgutturosa has been officially published
Recently, the monograph Behavioral Biology and Conservation of the Gazella Subgutturosa authored by Professor David Blank from the Bishkek Branch of the Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia has been officially published by the internationally renowned Springer Nature.
Subgutturosa is widely distributed in Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia and the Northwest China, however, due to habitat degradation, climate change and human activities, its population has been continuously declining, and currently, it has been listed as a vulnerable species (VU) by the IUCN Red List. Based on the author's research results over 30 years, this book systematically analyzes the behavioral patterns and ecological adaptation mechanisms of this species for the first time, providing key scientific basis for the protection of worldwide threatened artiodactyl animals.
This book is composed of 22 chapters, including tens of thousands of hours of field tracking, integration of multi-disciplinary data, behavioral observation and ecological data analysis, and it comprehensively reveals the reproductive behavior and physiological mechanisms, social behavior and group dynamics, survival challenges and adaptive evolution, as well as conservation practices and future research of the Gazella Subgutturosa. Therefore, this work is not only an authoritative reference book for wildlife managers and conservation biologists, but also its behavioristics chapter can serve as an expansion textbook for courses on ecology and zoology in universities, providing direct reference value for formulating biodiversity conservation strategies.
